Oubliette

Description

**** This app requires Special Playing Cards that can be purchased at https://www.qrspeak.com

If you have recently lost your eyesight, have been blind since birth, or have limited vision, enjoying playing cards can be hard to do. There is the option of braille cards but they are bulky to shuffle and if recently vison impaired you need to learn how to read the braille on the cards. We have created a new way of playing cards for the blind or vison impaired called Cards that Talk.

You simply place the card under the camera on the apple device and it will read the card to you. You can wear an earpiece so only you know what cards you hold.

Cards that Talk also features a continuous scanner so that once the app is started there is no need to touch the device again until you are done enjoying playing cards. There are buttons that you can either slow down the speed of the voice or speed it up depending on your preference. All that is left for you to do is enjoy playing cards again.

Features

  • Continuous scanning; no tapping the screen after each card
  • variable speed control for voice
  • larOubliette is the classic multiplayer dungeon fantasy role playing game, finally available on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Build a party of fighters, priests, mages and thieves to run deep into the dungeon. Test your courage and skill against groups of orcs, trolls, vampires and dragons.

Earning its reputation as the thinking man’s dungeon game, Oubliette blends the thrill of mortal combat with the sublime challenges of strategy, planning and adaptation. Rather than testing your reaction speed and nerves, like a first person shooter, Oubliette challenges the player to do careful strategic planning as well as make tactical decisions in the heat of battle.

Each player (character) in the game is created from one of eight player races, which vary in attributes such as strength, intelligence, dexterity and durability. Elves are highly intelligent and (potentially) immortal, Orcs are strong with short life spans, Dwarves are strong with high wisdom, Kobolds are quite weak in most areas but advance more quickly.

Depending on these attributes, each player will be qualified to join a limited number of player classes (occupations). More balanced players will have more choices, including Hirebrand (fighter), Mage, Priest and Thief. Less commonly, players may be qualified for a highly selective class with special skills such as Ranger, Sage, Paladin, Samurai or Ninja.

Unlike games which focus on a single player against multiple opponents, Oubliette allows a party of up to 10 players with complementary skills to face the various types of monsters found in the dungeon. There are more than 160 different monsters, and to deal with them, more than 150 different pieces of equipment, which may be enchanted with special properties or skills.

Oubliette is challenging, but forgiving. New players commonly have their parties wiped out by an unfamiliar group of monsters. In fact, your party can meet up to 3 monster groups at the same time! Use the Temporal Chamber to save a Temporal Portal before dangerous trips. If things turn out badly, use the Temporal Chamber to turn back the clock and try again. The trapeze is every bit as thrilling, but safer, with a net below.

If you are up to the challenge, Oubliette is free to download and play. Explore the easier levels of the dungeon to build your party and expertise. And then, when you are ready, feel the power of the game on the deeper levels. Onward to Glory!ge start scanning button so no fumbling trying to find it

Cards that Talk is free but will require our playing cards that can be purchased. Contact us at https://www.qrspeak.com and click the link to buy cards or we can answer any questions that you may have. The cards are professionally printed and will hold up like any other deck of cards. Since there is no braille on them they are smooth. This makes them easier to shuffle and to play wit

iPhone Mirroring Accessibility Status

macOS Sequoia beta has a new feature called iPhone mirroring, which allows the user to control their iPhone from their Mac. This means that you can use your iPhone from your Mac while your phone is in your pocket, or while it isn’t in teach. The big question though is if this feature works with VoiceOver.

At the time of this writing, in early September 2024, the iPhone mirroring feature is not accessible. While I have been able to open the application and navigate the window using VoiceOver with macOS, VoiceOver does not read the contents of the phone screen. Enabling VoiceOver on the phone does provide some assistance by allowing the arrow keys of the Mac to navigate the status bar, but this does not enable the user to complete tasks as the phone must remain locked.

In my opinion, the iPhone Mirroring feature possesses significant potential. While it does effectively display iPhone notifications on macOS, it is unfortunate that it does not appear to function with VoiceOver. Furthermore, it would be great if the feature could also be utilized on the iPad. I am hoping that these issues will be addressed in a future update to the operating system.

Have you been able to get this feature to work? Let us know in the comments, or in the iAccessibility Forums.

– The iAccessibility Report Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses for Blind Users: Guide

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses combine style with advanced technology, offering unique benefits for blind and visually impaired users. These glasses are equipped with AI-driven features that provide hands-free accessibility, making daily tasks easier. However, it’s important to understand their limitations and how they fit into your overall accessibility toolkit. In this guide, we’ll explore the styles, key features, available commands, and important considerations when using these glasses.

Where to Buy and Available Styles

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are available at the Meta Store, Ray-Ban’s website, and major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. Prices start at $299, with additional costs for custom lenses such as prescription or polarized options. The glasses come in various styles, including the feminine Skylar, the classic Wayfarer, and the retro Headliners, each offering different color and lens configurations.

Key Features and Accessibility Commands

The glasses are equipped with a 12MP ultra-wide camera, open-ear speakers, and advanced AI. Here are some essential commands:

  • “Hey Meta, look and tell me what you see”: Identifies objects or people in view.
  • “Hey Meta, look and give me a detailed description”: Provides a detailed analysis of what the camera sees.
  • “Hey Meta, look and tell me everything you see”: Offers a comprehensive overview of all visible elements.
  • “Hey Meta, look and read this”: Reads text aloud, ideal for reading signs, menus, or documents.
  • “Hey Meta, translate this”: Translates foreign text into your language.

Limitations and Features Under Development

While Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses offer many useful features, they currently do not support popular accessibility services like Be My Eyes or Aira. Meta is working on expanding the AI capabilities, but these features are not yet available. You may come across commands online that claim to offer extended functionality; however, results can vary. This is because Meta often rolls out new features gradually or tests them with select users, meaning not all commands will work consistently.

What Not to Use These Glasses For

These glasses are not designed to replace critical tools like canes or guide dogs. They are not suitable for recognizing medications, people, or performing tasks related to health and safety. The glasses’ AI is not intended for precise navigation, identifying health hazards, or making decisions about personal safety. They should be viewed as a supplementary aid rather than a primary accessibility solution.

Important Tips for Using Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

  • Listen for the Beep: After a command response, a beep indicates that Meta is ready for your next command.
  • Experiment with Commands: The AI’s performance can vary, so it’s important to try different commands and learn which work best for your needs.
  • Be Aware of Limitations: Always use these glasses as an additional tool, not as a substitute for traditional mobility aids.
  • Avoid Using for Health and Safety Tasks: The AI is not equipped to handle critical safety-related identifications or medical advice.

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses provide a stylish and accessible solution that enhances everyday experiences for blind and visually impaired users. With continuous updates and evolving features, these glasses are poised to become even more functional. However, it’s crucial to recognize their current limitations and use them in conjunction with traditional accessibility aids.

– The iAccessibility Report The Truth About Web Browsers on iOS

Browsing the web on iOS devices has long been synonymous with Safari, but options like Firefox and Google Chrome are now available. However, are these third-party browsers truly different from Safari?

All iOS web browsers are built on Apple’s WebKit technology, the same engine that powers Safari. This is due to Apple’s restrictions on third-party apps running code like JavaScript in a way that is needed to render web pages. While this might change if Apple allows Just In Time (JIT) code execution, for now, all browsers must use WebKit.

Despite sharing the same technology, third-party browsers like Chrome and Firefox offer unique benefits. They allow users to synchronize bookmarks across different devices, a feature that Safari limits to the Apple ecosystem. This flexibility is a significant advantage for users who do not exclusively use Apple products.

In conclusion, while third-party browsers on iOS perform similarly to Safari when it comes to web browsing, they provide additional features that may enhance the overall user experience, especially for those who prefer cross-platform compatibility.
