iAccessibility 1.4 for iOS

iAccessibility Logo

iAccessibility is proud to announce that version 1.4 of our app has been released to the app store. This version includes new shortcuts to start and stop playback of our live stream, and a shortcut to listen to our ten latest episodes. You must first perform these actions in the app for Siri to find them, but you can then use the settings app to add a phrase with Siri to activate these features while your phone is unlocked. We have also made bug fixes to the app, and we will have more to come shortly.

iA DemoCast 16: Apple Shortcuts for iOS

Shortcuts app icon

Well, it has been a while since we have had a full DemoCast, but this one is pretty important.

Apple has released their newest version of iOS, which has a new form of automation built in called Siri Shortcuts. They have also released an app called Shortcuts that replaces the app called Workflow.

Shortcuts lets users chain together actions to complete a task, and the best part is that you can add these shortcuts to Siri.

Download the Shortcuts app from the App Store

During the show, we go through the Library and gallery tabs of the app, we download a shortcut from the gallery and even make our own basic shortcut with VoiceOver on.

iAccessibility has also created a shortcut and a category called Beyond the Gallery for shortcuts that are useful that aren’t in the gallery. Here is a link to the shortcut.

Beyond The Gallery

In 2007, Apple changed the world with the iPhone, and Google enhanced the same experience with Android. Android has always had more customization options as far as automation and productivity over Apple’s iOS, but this has finally changed in iOS 12.

Several years ago, an app was created called Workflow for iOS that allowed users to chain actions together to make their phones and iPads do more than what they were intended to do. Apple has acquired the Workflow app, and has renamed it to Shortcuts in iOS 12. With the Shortcuts app, you can create basic to advanced Shortcuts to complete advanced tasks on your phone or iPad.

You will find many Shortcuts in the Gallery section of the Shortcuts app, but we felt that it would be amazing to have a category here at iAccessibility for users to use to find the best Shortcuts that can be found in the gallery and beyond. We will soon post our favorite Shortcuts here with links to download those shortcuts, and we will even give instructions on how to build your own Shortcuts. We would also love to know what shortcuts you have made, so please share your shortcuts with us by emailing feedback@iaccessibility.net.
